 Family Guy first premiered with a audience that was over 22 million viewers, and
in the middle of much controversy about the show after Fox's 1999 Super Bowl telecast.
In the pilot episode, Stewie, a talking toddler with a clipped British accent, was openly contemptuous
of his dad and bent on killing his easy going mother in a quest for world domination.
The Family Guy Show Creator Seth MacFarlane, then 24, wrote scripts,
drew characters, provided the character voices, and infused the show with
gags in the form of tangential vignettes that appear to only make moot
points and not advance the storyline.
Family Guy was cancelled once in 2000 and again in 2002,
but strong DVD sales and the large viewer base of reruns on ' Cartoon Network's
Adult Swim ' convinced FOX to again resume the show in 2005.
Family Guy is the first cancelled show to be resurrected based on
sales of DVD's.
