Trans Fat
Overview

Effective as of Jan. 1, 2006, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires food companies to list trans fat content separately on the Nutrition Facts panel of all packaged foods.

Under this rule, consumers can see how much saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol are in the foods they choose.

Consumers will see nutrition labels listing any measurable (at least 0.5 gram per serving) amount of trans fat in a separate line in the total fat section under saturated fat.

However, no “Percent Daily Value” (%DV) for trans fat is shown.

This labeling requirement applies only to packaged food products, not foods served at restaurants.

Consumers should be aware that just because they do not see trans fat on the label of the product, does not mean that the product is trans free.

Trans fat (also called trans fatty acids) is formed when liquid vegetable oils go through a chemical process called hydrogenation, in which hydrogen is added to make the oils more solid.

Hydrogenated vegetable fats are used by food processors because they allow longer shelf-life and give food desirable taste, shape, and texture.

The majority of trans fat can be found in shortenings, stick (or hard) margarine, cookies, crackers, snack foods, fried foods (including fried fast food), doughnuts, pastries, baked goods, and other processed foods made with or fried in partially hydrogenated oils.

Some trans fat is found naturally in small amounts in various meat and dairy products.

Studies have not concluded where, if any, a safe limit of trans fats exits.

Another complication is that since trans fats occur naturally in meat, dairy and other products, total elimination would likely require such a drastic change in consumers’ diets that other health issues may emerge as a result.

The FDA estimates that the average daily intake of trans fat in the U.S. population is about 5.8 grams or 2.6 percent of calories per day for individuals 20 years of age and older.

Evidence suggests that consumption of trans fat raises LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels and lowers HDL (“good”) cholesterol levels, causing the arteries to become clogged and increasing the risk of developing heart disease and stroke.

Some T-Shirt Screen-printers have said that in order for humor on a t-shirt to be successfully created for the user..

any crafter need only to remember that less is always better.

The point or focus of the humor that will be screen printed onto the t-shirt should always be contained in the form of a simple word.. or a one line, or two-line sentence.

* “I was so ugly when I was born.. the doctor slapped my mother”

* "Dear Lord.. If you can't make me skinny.. please make my friends fat"

 Longer humor works can function as a conversation t-shirt piece, if you don't mind people you don't know following you around to read what's on your t-shirt. For example:

* The cop got out of his car as the kid who was stopped for speeding rolled down his window.

"I've been waiting for you all day," the cop said.

 The kid replied, "Yeah, well I got here as fast as I could."

 When the cop finally stopped laughing, he sent the kid on his way.. without a ticket.


So what distinguishes the best type and form of humor that a crafter might grace a t-shirt with?


The fun is always powerfully packed inside the humorous message, and how it climaxes in what is described as a punch line.

The punch line is like a little verbal surprise explosion..  set off by a sudden switch in meaning.

 * Him: Will you marry me?   Her: Uh.. where am I ?

It's also said that jokes, quotes, or symbol designs on t-shirts can be more directional than one might ever first believe.

Is that joke or statement on the t- shirt more about the humor of the t-shirt wearer..  about you..  anyone in particular.. or everyone?

Perhaps  the only bottom punch line about humor on t-shirts to understand.. is  that..  there really are no limits one may need to worry about.

& Just about anything.. can work.

because good humor or bad humor on a t-shirt..   is judged solely in the eyes of the beholders.

 Humor imprinted on t-shirts  is like a magic wand that can cause even the hardcore serious.. to display an instant smile.
